ABOUT ERIN MARLOWE
I care for a flock of Icelandic Sheep in central New Hampshire. I raise sheep because I love having animals in my life and I want my family to be connected with the source of our food. Raising animals for meat helps me to acknowledge the life and death that happens to create our food, while at the same time celebrating and loving the animals.

I believe that animals raised for food should be treated with love and respect.
I believe that our agricultural practices should benefit the environment and support a sustainable business.
I believe that farmers should be paid well for their work and that all people should have access to quality food.
I believe that food should connect us, not divide us.
I believe that achieving these goals, for our entire planet, is not as simple as it sounds.
I believe that there are pros and cons to all types of agricultural systems, conventional and organic, and there is no single "right" way to farm.

I am a beginning farmer and I want to know that the choices I make on my farm are sustainable. I am a mother, and I want to know that the food choices I make for my family are choices that will lead to a healthy planet and nourishing food for all people.

I invite you to join me on my journey into farming and my exploration into the current research on agriculture practices. If you are a beginning shepherd, I hope you can learn from my experiences as a fellow beginner. I will share my mistakes as well as my triumphs while raising sheep. If you are interested in the day to day life of a shepherd, I hope you will enjoy my stories. If you are on a mission to find the truth amidst all of the headlines about food and farming, I hope you will enjoy my exploration of the scientific research about agriculture and the environment.

To follow this journey, please sign up for my monthly newsletter. You will receive stories from the farm and an update on my latest research into sustainable farming methods and nutrition.
